Beterbiev will be defending his unified light heavyweight titles.
Unified light heavyweight titleholder Artur Beterbiev (15-0, 15 KOs) has his next outing solidified as he’ll take on IBF mandatory challenger Meng Fanlong (16-0, 10 KOs) on March 28th at the Videotron Center in Quebec City, airing live on ESPN.
Top Rank has promotional control over the card after purse bid winner Longjoy Sports defaulted on the payment.
Beterbiev, 35, is most recently coming off a great showing where he beat down Oleksandr Gvozdyk last October to unify the WBC and IBF world titles. Meanwhile his challenger, Meng, 31, maintains an undefeated record, despite not having faced any world class opposition thus far.
So this is where Meng will get his shot to make a name for himself, but it’ll surely be an uphill battle as Beterbiev, despite getting up there in age, still appears to be a legitimate beast with good power in both hands. I think we can all expect the champion to enter this fight as a massive favorite to win.
