NSAC suspended all combat sports in the state on the 14th

Just over a week ago, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) officially suspended all combat sports in the state and scheduled a March 25th meeting to determine their next course of action. Said meeting will now be happening “at a later date” over “health and safety” concerns.

“Please be advised that due to the ongoing concern and consideration of the health and safety of the public in regard to the COVID-19 virus, the Regular Monthly Meeting of the Nevada Athletic Commission scheduled for Wednesday March 25, 2020 at 9:00 AM has been cancelled. The Commission will determine at a later date when the next regularly scheduled meeting will be held.”

Honestly, it’s not as though the meeting’s outcome was in doubt; every major promoter has already cleared their schedule until at least May, and the WBO recently took it a step further by postponing all events through June. Basically the only things left up in the air were the UFC’s attempts to cram everything into their “APEX” facility.

Still, “meeting to deal with pandemic canceled because of pandemic” is a somewhat worrying turn of events.
