‘Beast’ mode? Contender Series bettor drops devilish wager against Bella Mir, pockets $10k return

According to legendary heavy metal band Iron Maiden, 666 is The Number of the Beast.

It’s also the wager that landed one “Contender Series” bettor more than $10,000 after picking Alex Apodaca to upset Bella Mir at last night’s Meta Apex show in Las Vegas. Mir ballooned to as high as -6000, despite a limited amount of MMA experience, and was soundly defeated after three rounds of action.

I’m sure all the bean counters at Apodaca’s accounting firm will enjoy crunching those numbers.

“I didn’t want to look at the odds before [the fight], but I knew it was some bullsh*t,” an elated Apodaca said after the fight. “I just truly believe if I stay present and in the moment, I can see everything and nobody is going to beat me. I’m pretty technical, and I’m strong as f*ck.”
