New Dustin Poirier arrest footage gets released

An extended look at Dustin Poirier‘s arrest has been released.

On Father’s Day (June 21), Poirier had flown into Atlanta from his hometown, Lafayette, Louisiana, to have a good day out with his friends. During the trip, the UFC veteran became heavily intoxicated, having first started drinking while on the flight over, and later adding to his intake at the airport bar. By the time he walked up to board his connecting Delta flight to Fort Lauderdale, agents denied him entry. The refusal to let him board sparked outrage, and Poirier began getting agitated.

When the first Atlanta Police Department officer arrived at the scene, he attempted to de-escalate the situation before recognizing Dustin Poirier. The officer radioed for backup and was subjected to a verbal onslaught from Poirier until his colleagues arrived. The video footage instantly went viral, and fans continue to single out a racial slur Poirier used during the altercation.

With months gone by and several public responses later, Dustin Poirier thought he had finally escaped his drunken disturbance and could move on from what was clearly an alcohol-infused mistake, in which he was charged with misdemeanor public intoxication. Well, he’d be wrong.

Earlier today, almost three months after the initial incident, Atlanta police have escalated the matter. While likely unintentional, the department has released an extended look at the arrest from June.

The video shows Dustin Poirier telling officers to search for his genitals, and later shouting f*** the fans as he’s being escorted to his cell. Similar to what he did in the original video from months back, Poirier began calling officers to let him out of his handcuffs and fight him. “Free me and let’s go 1-on-1,” Poirier can be heard saying on the bodycam footage.
