Alonzo Menifield suffers gruesome thumb injury in UFC 331 win

MVP Boxing |

“So you want to be a f*cking fighter?” Those immortal words fromUFCboss Dana White rang true on Saturday night, when heavyweights Alonzo Menifield and Iwo Baraniewski stepped into the cage for their UFC 331 main card bout at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

It was an exciting back-and-forth affair, but no one could have been prepared for what was shown after the official decision was read.

Menifield came out as the winner via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28), but he won’t be returning to action anytime soon after suffering a gruesome thumb injury in the first round.

During his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Menifield flashed his thumb to the camera and to show just how badly it was broken, with the bone sticking through.
