Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua official, set for December 11 clash
The wait is finally over.
Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will collide in an all-British heavyweight grudge match on December 11. Recent silence surrounding the fight threatened to stall it once again, but after a decade of failed fight negotiations, near-misses, and public spats, two of boxing’s most iconic Englishmen will finally share the ring later this year. The idea of the fight has dominated British boxing since 2015. But just as the bout looked destined to falter once again, they have finally signed a deal.
Live from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, the Fury vs. Joshua matchup will be streamed exclusively on Netflix. At no extra cost, Netflix account holders will be able to tune in and witness what promises to be a historic night in boxing, as the two heavyweight titans collide in front of a packed 80,000-seat stadium.
A fierce back-and-forth has ensued over recent weeks.
Anthony Joshua, unwilling to bend to the demands of Tyson Fury, Turki Alalshikh, and co., dug his heels in. He didn’t waver in his attempt to bring the all-British affair to UK soil. Fury had other plans, preferring a big show in America, attempting to attract the most eyes to their battle as possible.
But this fight is more than just fame. This is about legacy. A chance to silence the world after over a decade of talking. A blockbuster showdown is on the horizon, and the title of the best British heavyweight of a generation is at stake. Who will come out on top when Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua finally lock horns for a bout years in the making?
The pair will reportedly come face-to-face for their first promotional press conference on Wednesday, September 30, in London.
While still subject to change, Fury and Joshua will make their ring walks on December 11 at around 2:00 AM local time. Viewers in the U.S. will see it at 9:00 PM on the East Coast and 6:00 PM on the West Coast.
