Oscar De La Hoya ready to 'power jab' Dana White if they cross paths

The true hate between Oscar De La Hoya and Dana White is well publicized.

The two promoters have been at each other’s throats for years, butting heads at every opportunity. Their feud began after De La Hoya heavily criticized Conor McGregor‘s crossover boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. Since then, the feud has grown to unprecedented heights and has only worsened since White’s launch of Zuffa Boxing.

Dana White and Oscar De La Hoya do well to stay out of each other’s way, but with the upcoming WBC welterweight title clash between Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn, they may cross paths. Garcia is legally signed to Golden Boy Promotions, which De La Hoya owns. Benn, of course, was the first marquee signing by White’s Zuffa Boxing, meaning an interaction could take place with the two men both in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the fight on Saturday.

If any talks do take place, De La Hoya would try to be professional, but doesn’t rule out a physical altercation.

“I will be there at the fight. I will be supporting Ryan Garcia. Obviously, I promote him,” De La Hoya said. “[If I bump into Dana White], I’m not sure. I’m a fighter, man. I’m not backing down. I’m a fighter. I have no issues whatsoever.”

“I mean, if he like, if he wants to say hi or shake hands, you know, I’m not going to be an asshole. I’m going to shake his hand and say hi, whatever. But if he wants to come at me? Oh man. It won’t [last long], come on.”

If it comes down to it, De La Hoya has revealed exactly how he expects to handle Dana White, saying:

“I think I’ll surprise him just with a straight jab. My power jab could take Dana White, easy. He wouldn’t even see it coming. If he tries to grab me and take me to the ground, I mean, come on. That left jab just keeps you away… If he takes me down, I’m done. I am done. I can’t wrestle, but trust me, he would not get close to me.”
