Casey ONeill wants Maycee Barber after wicked wild tap at UFC 331

LOS ANGELES – Casey O'Neill met the media Saturday after her win over Eduarda Moura at UFC 331.

O'Neill (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) landed one of the slickest submissions ever seen on the prelims at Crypto.com Arena when she tapped Moura (12-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) with an armbar. Only moments earlier, she had been defending a choke. When Moura got on top of her, O’Neill pushed her upward from her stomach, and as she went into the air latched onto her arm and had a submission in seconds, seemingly from out of nowhere.

With three straight wins and back-to-back stoppages in 2026 after a return from nearly two years away, Scotland’s O’Neill suddenly is making noise at 125 pounds. Her insane submission was a no-brainer for a $100,000 post-fight bonus – which also was her first bonus in the UFC in nine fights.

O'Neill key quotes, UFC 331

“Physically, I feel great. My knee is a little sore, but everybody knows that I've struggled with knee injuries in the past. It's no thing, so I'm good. I think I'm good.”

“We've had game plans for the last two fights, but one big thing that I've been working on since being back from the latest injury is not having expectations when I get in there. I didn't have expectations, but that definitely wasn't the game plan. I wanted to stand. I wanted to test out my power. I've been working really, really hard on my striking and I didn't get to show any of it tonight. But that's good, because still no tape to watch on me. I like that.”

“I didn't want to yell at her. I feel like I'm not that person anymore. I don't want to fight with emotion. But before this fight, she was acting really, really weird on social media. … I just fought March 28. In the beginning of April, she's like, ‘Accept the fight,’ and then like four minutes after sending me a message was commenting on my Instagram pictures saying, ‘You're running from me. You're scared.’ … She did some weird stuff that I didn't like. But at the end of the day, I don't like to fight on emotion, and I don't wish her any harm in life or her career. It's just business.”

“(Maycee Barber is a) fight that I have had my eye on for a really long time. We both got signed around the same time – me, her and Erin (Blanchfield). We're circling each other for a long time. We've never fought each other with everything that's happened, and I've fought backwards (in the rankings) twice now coming off the injury. I think it's my turn to fight forward. … She's (ranked) No. 8, I think so depending on what I am come Tuesday, it's a good next step.”
