‘Upset’ Amanda Nunes obsessed with new UFC star Ailin Perez — ‘I’m in her head like I was with Norma

UFC women’s bantamweight contender Ailin Perez took over the No. 2 spot at 135 pounds with her unanimous decision victory over Norma Dumont in the UFC Vegas 121 co-main event last weekend in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, her performance did not meet the expectations of her pre-fight hype and critics panned the tepid, three-round affair.

Former division titleholder, Amanda Nunes, was at the top of that list.

Maybe “Lioness” was hoping to face Dumont?

“She’s very upset and mad at me,” Perez told Hablemos MMA. “She responds to my stories and messages on Instagram. I’m in her head like I was with Norma. She shares her opinion because she wants to fight me. She’s very upset, and because she wanted to fight against Norma and not me. If she’s so tough and so mad at me, let’s fight. We can sort this out in the cage. I have no problem fighting Amanda Nunes. I want those fights. She’s clearly watching me. I’ll fight her.”

That might take awhile.

Nunes first has to reclaim her crown when she battles surgically-repaired 135-pound titleholder Kayla Harrison in the UFC 334 co-main event this November at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This marks the first fight for Nunes — who also held gold at 145 pounds — since retiring from MMA back in 2023.
