The main event pits two dangerous strikers with contrasting styles against each other in a fight that could reshape the featherweight contender landscape.

Jean Silva 

Jean Silva has established himself as one of the division’s most entertaining action fighters.

The 29-year-old Brazilian possesses crisp combination striking and active footwork that allows him to dictate range and pace. His key victories include wins over Arnold Allen, Bryce Mitchell, and Drew Dober.

Silva’s only UFC loss came against Diego Lopes in a title eliminator, and he rebounded with a decision win over Allen at UFC 324 in January.

Silva’s UFC statistics reflect his aggressive approach, landing 4.82 strikes per minute at an efficient 51% rate, while maintaining a 53% strike defense. He maintains significant volume while maintaining defensive awareness, though his willingness to engage in firefights with his hands away from his head has occasionally left him vulnerable. 

His footwork allows him to cut angles effectively, and he excels at well-informed, multi-punch combinations that overwhelm opponents.

Jose Delgado

Delgado, who is a late replacement for Yair Rodriguez, represents a different threat entirely. The 28-year-old fighting out of Yuma, Arizona, counters with power and punishes mistakes. Delgado earned his UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024 with a slick finish, then opened his UFC tenure with back-to-back first-round stoppages, including a remarkable 26-second finish of Hyder Amil.

Delgado’s path has not been without setbacks. He missed weight last fall and dropped a decision to Nathaniel Wood, but has since rebounded with decision victories over Austin Bashi and Andre Fili. 

The switch-stance fighter possesses legitimate knockout power and excellent timing on his counters.

Tale of the Tape

Size: Delgado stands at 5’11” with a 73-inch reach, boasting significant physical advantages over Silva, who is 5’7” with a 69-inch reach. 

Experience: Silva, who is currently ranked No.6 among featherweights, enters with more UFC rounds and championship-level experience. He has faced elite competition, including a title eliminator against former title challenger, Diego Lopes. The No. 15-ranked Delgado has compiled a 4-1 UFC record since earning his contract through Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024, but has yet to face an opponent of Silva’s caliber.

Submission Grappling Prowess: Despite Delgado’s significant height and reach advantages, Silva has showcased more grappling proficiency at a UFC level. Despite losing to Diego Lopes, Silva has choked out Bryce Mitchell and dominated a well-rounded contender in Arnold Allen, proving he has legitimate jiujitsu skills. 

Keys to Victory

This fight will likely become a fan-friendly striking battle. Silva will look to establish his preferred range early, using footwork and feints to close distance and unleash combinations. Delgado will likely look to fight behind his jab and wait for opportunities to land counter power shots.

The length discrepancy could prove crucial in a striking battle, allowing Delgado to control distance and land from outside Silva’s preferred range.

Delgado enters as a substantial betting underdog. BETOnline currently lists Silva at -430 and Delgado at +337. While fighting in front of his home fans in Arizona could provide Delgado with an emotional boost, he is also a late replacement fighter, which could give Silva the edge.

An upset for Delgado here would catapult him into the featherweight conversation and silence doubts about his ceiling in the division. For Silva, a victory will not necessarily raise his stock significantly, but it does secure his spot at the top of the division and could break him into the top five.
