Ilia Topuria announces his return, makes damning claim against Justin Gaethje
Ilia Topuria is back, and with that he brings some incriminating claims against Justin Gaethje.
‘El Matador’ has been largely silent since suffering the first defeat of his career at UFC Freedom 250. Confident as ever, Topuria entered the octagon on June 14, expecting to come away with another win and subsequent title defense. That wasn’t the case. Instead, it was Gaethje who put on an all-time display in front of his president to capture the lightweight crown. For months, the former champion has kept his cards close to his chest, not speaking publicly for some time. Now, he’s back with some crazy allegations.
Ilia Topuria took a beating on the White House lawn, suffering orbital bone fractures, a broken nasal septum, and a heavily damaged foot. Speaking to his fans, Topuria thanked them for their support and announced his imminent return to the cage.
“Final medical tests done. I’m back,” Topuria said. “To all the clowns who’ve been talking sh*t and counting me out this whole time, here I am. Now let’s see who’s got the balls. Thanks to everyone for the support.”
The stars aligned and shone on Justin Gaethje, allowing him to execute the greatest performance of his mixed martial arts career on that historic night in the capital; or maybe not. According to Topuria, Gaethje may have tampered with his gloves in the build-up to their encounter.
“Next time I’ll make sure they check Justin’s gloves so he doesn’t put anything weird on them. See you soon,” Topuria added.
It didn’t take long for Gaethje to respond to the comments. Referencing his win over Topuria, Gaethje told his former opponent to do better.
“94 days and the best you could come up with is a lame excuse. As terrible as your last performance. Do better kid.”
