Watch: Josh Hokit chokes fan unconscious at wild meet-and-greet

Josh Hokit has taken his controversial personality to a whole new level.

Hokit has had an astronomical rise to superstardom since arriving in the UFC last year. Just 10 months into his time with the promotion, the heavyweight has won each of his four outings, but bigger things are in the pipeline for the wrestler. Hokit has been handpicked by the matchmakers to collide with Frenchman Ciryl Gane for the vacant UFC heavyweight title. Now is the time to buckle in, get in the gym, and blank out the outside world to focus on capturing UFC gold, right? Wrong.

Instead of keeping himself out of the public eye as he nears the biggest fight of his life, Josh Hokit is choking fans out during meet-and-greets. When a fan approached him, asking Hokit to put him in a rear naked choke, Hokit gladly obliged.

This is a common occurrence at meet-and-greets for UFC fighters. Many have been asked to perform some sort of attack; sometimes body shots, sometimes submissions on willing fans. But the difference with Hokit’s was the supporters’ reaction to the choke.

Hokit held the fan in a rear naked choke for a few seconds until the man’s body went limp. He slowly lowered him to the ground, expecting to help him regain consciousness. But before he could, the fan began convulsing. He twitched several times before waking up. Another bizarre moment during the interaction transpired as soon as the fan woke up.

Many jump to their feet or look around, confused, before reality sets in. Not this man. He had his priorities straight. The first thing he did after waking up, before rising to his feet, was to get a drink of water.
