Dana Whites Contender Series 90 results: Five winners, five UFC contracts

MMA Junkie had you covered with live results and round-by-round updates of Dana White’s Contender Series 90, which took place Tuesday at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas and streamed on Paramount+.

Dana White's Contender Series fight cards see prospects compete in hopes of earning a UFC contract, with UFC president Dana White on hand to make the decision.

The fourth week of the 10th season saw 10 fighters compete for their shots at a UFC contract. In the featured bout at welterweight, Adam Darby (8-1) took on Patrick Rivera (13-5).

Darby gets back to the center and gets right back to work with his offense. There's a big head kick that Rivera attempted to catch. Darby blitzes with multiple punches, ending the combo with another head kick. Rivera has nothing offensively as Darby continues to pick his shots at will. There's a step-in knee near the fence from Darby. More left jabs. Front kick. A big 1-2. The referee calls for time so the doctor can look at the swelling over his right eye. That's it! The ref says, "I think we're done." TKO win for Darby.

Adam Darby vs. Patrick Rivera: Round 2

Darby picks up where he left off, striking from range. Rivera takes more chances early here as he looks to land a few punches over the top. Darby resets and resumes target practice from range with the left jab. There's a slapping head kick, too. Rivera's face is showing the damage now as Darby continues to light him up with speedy jabs. Darby is feeling himself now too as he plays with a few feints while sticking in clean strikes. Darby bites down and offers a big overhand right. Darby sticks his tongue out and keeps coming forward, landing at a high volume. Darby lands a hard right elbow in close. Bruised and bloodied, Rivera circles on the outside, trying to survive and look for answers. Darby keeps the pressure and volume high. Rivera sneaks in a hard right hand, but Darby doesn't seem bothered much. Darby drills a clean 1-2 right at the horn.

We've arrived at the feature bout of the evening, a welterweight contest between Adam Darby (7-1) and Patrick Rivera (13-4).

Darby takes the center and opens with a front kick. The size difference here immediately stands out as Darby's long frame sends in initial kicks and punches from range. There's a nice punch followed by a high kick from Darby. Rivera catches a kick, but quickly lets it go. Rivera looks for a counter overhand right. Darby gets back to the range attacks, mixing in stiff punches and oblique kicks. Rivera catches another kick, this time Darby looks to leap with the plant foot for a knee to the head. Back to the center, they start trading punches. Rivera lands a nice left. Darby keeps him guessing with leg and calf kicks. There's a nice step-in knee from Darby, but Darby gets a hold of him and tries to get a standing back take. Darby shakes free and resumes his array of kicks. There's a nice double jab from Darby. More kicks, and a spinning attempt from Darby just before the horn.

Next up is a middleweight bout between Brandon Holmes (6-1) and Modestino Rodrigues (7-1).

They touch 'em up, and Rodrigues lands a damaging leg kick right off the bat. Rodrigues charges forward with a barrage of punches as Holmes retreats. WOAH!! There's a big right hand to floor Holmes! Rodrigues follows to the canvas to land more, and the referee stops it! Holmes pops up in protest, but it's over! That was only 15 seconds!

Sanchez quickly closes the distance into striking range. McCracken works the left hand, but can't get much going because Sanchez has a nice takedown. Sanchez works some ground and pound, while also exploring an arm triangle threat. McCracken works back up to a knee and gets to both feet with Sanchez still attached to the hip. McCracken gets free midway through the round. Punches are traded in the center. McCracken rips a left but, BANG!!! The counter left from Sanchez absolutely rocks and drops McCracken! He comes in for the follow-up elbow, and that's it! WOW. What a huge punch leading to the finish!

Liam McCracken vs. Silvestre Sanchez: Round 2

Sanchez pressures immediately. He punches his way into a clinch, working for a takedown. McCracken is bleeding from the nose. They separate and return to the center, trading punches. Sanchez wins the exchange with a hard left hand, and he pushes McCracken into the fence, looking for a takedown. McCracken instead pushes forward, looking for a takedown, but gets reversed. Sanchez takes control on the mat and scrambles into a nasty-looking armbar! Somehow McCracken escapes! McCracken gets to his feet, looking to close back in for a takedown of his own. It's not there, and we're back in the center. There's a nice body punch from McCracken. He adds a clean left hand, which Sanchez shakes his head at afterward. Sanchez comes in with punches. They clinch up, but separate quickly. Sanchez moves in again with big punches! There's a leaping knee! McCracken gets taken down. Sanchez is raining down hard elbows from the top! Could this be it? The ref steps in closer! Sanchez stands up to land a big punch, and then walks off in anticipation of the horn. We're going to Round 3.

Up next is another lightweight bout: Liam McCracken (8-1) vs. Silvestre Sanchez (9-1).

Sanchez takes the center, looking for an early calf kick. Sanchez goes high with a left kick, then back to the right calf kick. Sanchez darts forward with punches into a body lock, looking for the inside trip. McCracken keeps his footing while Sanchez keeps working in the clinch. McCracken gets the separation, looking for a head kick on the exit. Sanchez gets back to coming forward with strikes. McCracken starts working the left jab. Sanchez rushes in with punches again, right into another takedown attempt. McCracken stays upright, and they're back to the center. McCracken resumes the jab. Sanchez once again works forward into a clinch, but nothing comes of it. Back to the center now, they trade punches – and both land nicely. Sanchez lands a right head kick, but McCracken looks unbothered and fires a right hand. McCracken moves in, ripping punches to the body and head. Sanchez covers up well and responds with a blitz of his own, ending in a nice takedown. Sanchez finds the back and locks in a body triangle. McCracken stays calm and peels Sanchez off beautifully. They're back to the feet with a few seconds left, and there's the horn.

They touch 'em up, and Lorenco gets it started with a kick to the body. Cleveland comes forward swinging punches, and they're trading early! Lorenco circles out to reset. Cleveland comes in with another punch. Lorenco lands a right hand, and they're swinging again in the center! They both reset with Cleveland in the center. There's another heated exchange of punches. Cleveland comes forward with a kick to the midsection. Lorenco blasts Cleveland with a huge right! Down he goes! Cleveland tries to get up but gets dropped again by a downward elbow! Lorenco swarms with punches! Lorenco knocks out his mouthpiece as he hammers away! That's it! What a finish by Lorenco!

Smith closes in, winging punches to start the round quickly. Livingston eats a right hand, and now he's leaking a little blood from his nose. Smith keeps coming forward with pressure, still mixing in punches to the body. Livingston charges forward as Smith backs away, all the way across the cage, and Livingston slaps with a head kick. Smith resets, and resumes forward pressure. Livingston looks to land kicks, but Smith evades nicely. Smith comes forward again with punches, landing the right hand nicely. There's a body kick, followed by another clean right hand from Smith. Livingston spins with a backfist again. Smith pops out a left jab, and lands a right hand. Livingston kicks high. Smith answers with a punch. Livingston unleashes a tornado kick and gets a little of it. There's the final horn. Let's see what the judges think. This feels like 29-28 Smith.

Smith takes the center, steadily coming forward with single strikes. Livingston looks for a counter right. Smith continues to chase as Livingston circles the cage. Smith offers a head kick. Livingston throws a 1-2. Smith charges forward with a hook to the body. There's a leg kick from Smith. Another punch to the body from Smith. Livingston rips a counter combo nicely. Smith kicks to the body, which Livingston catches, but lets it go as Smith turns to retreat. Smith gets back on his forward pressure, working the body and head. Livingston offers a high kick. Smith lands a clean right. Livingston checks a leg kick, causing a stumble. Smith kicks nicely to the body. They trade heavy punches in close range. One minute. Smith kicks the body. Livingston lands a nice left hook in the center of the cage. Livingston lands a solid left, followed by a hard right as Smith closes in. Livingston whiffs on a spinning backfist. Smith comes forward, looking to land a hard punch before the horn sounds.

Getting the action started will be a lightweight bout between Adam Livingston (7-1) and Hunter Smith (8-1).

Here we go. There's no glove touch to start, they just get right into feeling out the range. Initial range finders are offered as Smith controls from the center. Livingston is quick to circle away from the fence. There's a spinning kick to the body from Livingston. A spinning backfist rocks Smith! Livingston unloads strikes for the finish near the fence! Smith covers up well to stay in it. Livingston backs off and now Smith appears to be with it. Livingston lets Smith come in and looks for counters. Smith moves forward with punches, but gets clipped again. Smith is still on the hunt, though. There's a beautiful left hook as Smith opens up! Livingston circles off the cage. Smith gives chase, and lands another nice combo. Less than a minute now. Another spinning backfist from Livingston lands, but not as damaging as the one earlier. Smith closes distance and they both swing hard hooks. One more spinning backfist from Livingston, and a wheel kick follows. There's the horn.
