Raul Rosas Jr. speaks out for first time since scary knockout win at UFC Vegas 121
Raul Rosas Jr. had a triumphant debut as a UFC headliner.
At just 21, Rosas Jr. is one of the hottest prospects in the sport, and his stock is steadily rising. A tough outing against Raoni Barcelos proved to be a great learning curve for the young Mexican, who battled for over 21 minutes with the veteran before getting the stoppage victory. The win came controversially when Barcelos, seemingly without sustaining any serious damage, was unable to continue and later stretchered out of the octagon.
A grueling pace for both men came to a head in the final round of their scheduled five, with Raul Rosas Jr. getting his hand raised. For the first time since that night in the Meta APEX, Rosas Jr. has addressed the performance.
“History continued,” Rosas Jr. said. “What a special night! Being able to headline my first main event at 21 years old, dreams coming reality all through hard work, and God’s plan. I felt great out there I knew I was in for a war, had a lot of fun.”
Concern set in once Raoni Barcelos was taken out of the octagon, but a positive update has since reassured fans of his well-being. Barcelos is stable, conscious, and able to talk to friends and family following the terrifying events at UFC Vegas 121.
As the events unfolded, silence filled the octagon, and everybody feared the worst, including opponent Raul Rosas Jr. He shared a few words for Barcelos in his post-fight octagon interview, and more in his social media post.
“Prayers to my opponent we both pushed each other to our limits, we left it all out there,” Rosas Jr. continued. “Thank you for helping me get better everyday and believing in me.”
