LAS VEGAS – Brendan Allen was conflicted when addressing UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland's issue with fighter pay.

Strickland (31-7 MMA, 18-7 UFC) has been venting his frustration over fighter pay amid negotiations to defend his title against Nassourdine Imavov. He's even openly contemplated fighting out his contract at light heavyweight so he can move to boxing for bigger paydays.

Allen (28-7 MMA, 16-4 UFC) is all for Strickland speaking out but clarifies that he's not complaining about his current situation.

"You'll never hear me b*tch about my pay, but I'd love to have more money," Allen said during the UFC Fight Night 290 post-fight press conference. "Who ain't going to want to have more money? The guys that don't need to fight, that can speak up, and make those stances for more money, God bless you. I wish I could do that. I'm just a dumb redneck from Louisiana. I'm happy with what I get paid. I'm doing sh*t people wish they could. There's many people where I'm from that wish they could make what I make, that can do what I do.

"So I'm very thankful. I don't want to feel like I'm greedy or something like that, but hat's off to Sean for speaking up, for trying to get more money, because if you look at the scope of things based on the statistics that are out there, we are underpaid. But f*ck that, I ain't trying to get canceled, at least from the bosses. I like my paycheck. They know I like my paycheck. I need that sh*t. My car collection is still growing. My house is still going. I didn't mean nothing by it, Hunter (Campbell). I apologize."

Allen extended his winning streak to four after submitting Christian Leroy Duncan (15-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in Saturday's UFC Fight Night 290 headliner at Meta APEX.
