"Old Man Volk" still has it.

At UFC 333, Alexander Volkanovski not only defeated Movsar Evloev – but finished him and made it look it easy. The featherweight bout headlined the event Saturday at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi (Paramount+). Volkanovski (29-4 MMA, 16-3 UFC) defeated Evloev (20-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) by second-round TKO at 4:54 of Round 2.

The first round was competitive, but from the jump there was a clear speed advantage in favor of Volkanovski. Evloev was patient, borderline inactive, as he tried to figure out the Volkanovski puzzle. In Round 2, however, Volkanovski began to take over. It was a straight left hand that sent Evloev backward and a big right hand that sat him down.

Volkanovski hammerfisted away at a covered-up Evloev until referee Marc Goddard dove in to stop the onslaught.

With the victory, Volkanovski surpassed Jose Aldo's record of title fight victories with nine and continues to sway the conversation in his favor that he is the greatest fighter in the division's history. In his second title reign, Volkanovski, 38, has now defended twice. His winning streak is now at three, after back-to-back title fight wins over Diego Lopes.

Evloev, 32, loses for the first time in MMA. His road to the title was long, but he accumulated victories over Lopes, Arnold Allen, and Alajmain Sterling, among others. After the fight, Evloev was gracious and complimentary of Volkanovski.
